What to Expect
Welcome to WCJC
It’s the first day of the rest of your life. Women’s Clinic of Johnson County can help make it special.
The excellent providers at WCJC will support you throughout every aspect of your pregnancy and are highly specialized in all forms of pregnancy care. We hope to make your visits with us, your entire pregnancy, plus your labor and delivery experiences the best ones possible.
The Process
Understanding what to expect from your obstetrician can help ease your concerns about getting the care you deserve.
Step
01.
Your First Appointment
In order for all of our patients to fulfill their ideal pregnancy plans, we help match you with one of our providers based on availability, location, personality, and other contributing factors.
Step
02.
Testing and Appointments
Proper testing and consistent appointments throughout your pregnancy will keep you and your developing baby safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible.
Step
03.
Picking a Hospital to Deliver At
One of the first steps of your pregnancy should be narrowing down a list of birthing centers. WCJC physicians deliver at both Advent Health Medical Center and Olathe Medical Center.
Step
04.
Choosing a Pediatrician
It is important to have your pediatrician chosen before your baby is born, so you will be able to get your baby's appointments scheduled in a timely fashion. The more you can accomplish before the baby comes, the easier it will be.
Step
05.
Discussing Your Birth Plan
Once you and your provider have been acquainted, we'll help you devise a birth plan if you desire one, or solidify one you already have. We'll be sure to account for every preference down to the last detail and document it well for the rest of our staff. Not sure where to start? That's okay! We'll walk you through any and all of your options to ensure you feel prepared and comfortable for the big day.
Step
06.
Having Your Baby
Whether your plan involves a completely natural birth, labor induction, or C-Section, our team will be ready and able to provide you with the comfort and care you deserve during the birthing process.
Step
07.
Postpartum Care
As OB physicians, our focus is to provide the best possible care to both mom and baby through the pregnancy and postpartum follow-up. This includes regular monthly/weekly visits, a screening ultrasound and appropriate lab work. After baby is born, we'll make sure you have access to all the information and resources you need to heal well and feel confident on the journey of motherhood. Your wellness will always be important, but especially so in the weeks and months after birth. Our preventive and routine healthcare services will help to identify any areas that you might need extra concern or focus and keep you healthy for years to come.
Hear from our patients
I've been going here for going on 5 years, and it's been nothing short of amazing.
My O.B. has seen me through all 3 of my pregnancies, and has seen other women in my family! The ladies at the front desk make you feel welcomed, and even take the time to learn and remember your name and your family. The nurses are superb, and I have never felt as though I or my concerns were irrelevant or not valid. I have recommended this office to numerous people and every time, they have been satisfied with the service received.

From the beginning to the end of labor and delivery, every single staff was amazing!!
Baby and I were the focus and they always had an answer for anything I might of needed to ask. This was my 2nd delivery here, free years apart and I really enjoyed the entire process both times and highly recommend Advent (formerly Shawnee Mission Medical Center) and all the staff here!! Thank you!! 🙂

Frequently Asked Questions
We require 24 hours notice prior to appointment in order to cancel; if the time of your appointment no longer works, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can help reschedule you for a day and time that works better. We reserve the right to no longer see a patient after three no shows, as our doctor’s schedules are extremely important to maintain for the convenience of the other patients of our practice.
Absolutely! You are welcome to visit any WCJC location that is most convenient for you. If you are pregnant, you do not have to deliver at the same place as your office visits. Similarly, if you are planning on having surgery, this does not have to be done at the same location as your normal office visits.
Each of our doctors are highly qualified. Which doctor you see will depend on a variety of factors, including availability, personal preference based on personality, and specialty. Feel free to meet each of our doctors online to learn more about which of our providers might be a good fit for you. And if you have any additional questions you cannot find on the web, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Our team of 10 female doctors take turns on call during nights and weekends. We are mothers, wives, aunts, and friends who maintain adequate downtime in order for us to provide excellent care in the office. Therefore, we take turns providing call coverage at night and on the weekends to ensure you receive the care you need, when you need it. We have separate teams for each night of the work week and would be happy to introduce you to them during a time that works for you.
You are able to (and in fact, we encourage you to) visit with other providers at WCJC.
WCJC is currently monitoring the development of COVID-19. We are following the recommendations from both the CDC and ACOG. We encourage our patients to visit the ACOG website to obtain more information regarding travel, exposure and risks during pregnancy and breastfeeding. We also encourage our pregnant patients, breastfeeding patients or those considering becoming pregnant to receive the Covid Vaccine. If you have questions please reach out to us.
At this time we are allowing patients to bring one visitor and their newborn in a carrier with them into the clinic. All patients and visitors 2 years of age and older are required to wear a mask. Feel free to ask your provider if it is okay to record or use FaceTime with family during your appointment.
