March is Endometriosis Awareness Month

Top 5 Symptoms for Endometriosis:

  • Pelvic pain just before and during the first few days of your period
  • Pain with sex
  • Pain with bowel movements
  • Bloating, nausea, constipation, or diarrhea (usually worse during your periods)
  • Heavy periods or bleeding between periods

Endometriosis is a chronic disease where the endometrium (the lining of the uterus) grows in other places in the pelvis. It can cause variable degrees of pain (sometimes severe) and can lead to infertility. Our doctors and nurse practitioners are knowledgeable about the disease, its diagnosis, and its treatment. If you or a loved one are concerned about endometriosis, please call.

We are here to help.

At WCJC Our Focus is Women’s Health, and it starts with US!

This year we are more focused than ever on self-care. The women of WCJC feel that it is important for our physicians, nurse practitioners, and staff to feel their best so that we can provide you with the care you deserve. The past two years have been trying for everyone, and healthcare workers have been at particular risk for burn-out. It is on our minds, and we are working to acknowledge and begin to reduce it in our office.

Last month we had our first office-wide mental health day, taking a day off to do something restorative for ourselves. As we encourage ourselves and our staff to work on self-care, we hope that we are better situated to support you all on your self-care journey.

We asked a few of our staff how they spent their day:

I took my dog Jasmine for a very long walk on the gorgeous day, stopped by to visit with my dad who is turning 90 this week, and picked up my grandson from Montessori school to go to the park.
Carolyn Barbour, Medical Assistant

I started off by sleeping in until 9! Then, I made a nice healthy breakfast for my family and took a long hot shower. I took my kids to the park, then to lunch, and ended our outing with a fantastic pedicure. I felt refreshed and ready to get back to work.
Sandy Sayavong, Front Desk Lead

I spent my mental health day enjoying the beautiful weather with my favorite sweet obsession!
